When you are dysregulated, decision-making is often not the most helpful place to focus. Dysregulation can affect your ability to think clearly, weigh options, and access your usual skills. Decisions made in that state may not reflect what you actually want or need.
In many cases, it can help to pause and focus first on helping your system become more regulated. Once your nervous system has more capacity, decision-making often becomes much clearer.
