No, feeling like nothing is changing as you try to heal does not mean that you are stuck. For DID and OSDD, healing is often slow and subtle. It may be easy to overlook it. You may be improving in ways that do not feel dramatic, such as recovering more quickly, feeling slightly safer, noticing triggers sooner, or having fewer internal conflicts.

Sometimes healing feels invisible because you have become used to your new level of functioning. The change can be so gradual it’s hard to notice it taking place.

Long periods of stability, quiet, or “nothing happening” can still be signs of progress. Healing often includes periods where things seem unchanged before more obvious progress appears.

This page is part of the Understanding the Trauma Healing Process section of the CommuniDID site, which explains why recovery can feel slow, confusing, or discouraging and why experiences like grief, exhaustion, and resistance are common during the healing process.
